Challenge #10 ~ Time It

I just finished a fun and exhilarating 1 Hour Layout contest at Creative Scrappers. I have never timed a layout before and had to create in such a short time. Steve had to work and wasn't going to be home until late. That meant that not only was I having to work with a time limit but I also had three girls to get ready for bed. It was stressful but thrilling at the same time. I thought I would hate the layout when it was done because I like to take my time and use inks, paint and distress my layouts. I like to bulk them up and add layers. I knew I wouldn't have time for any of that and I thought I wouldn't be happy. But... I actually Am Happy!!

Here is the final layout. I did manage to get it done in time but I couldn't get it loaded in time. My girls came first. Paige is still not feeling well and needed her Mommy to tuck her in. I still love doing that.
This is DD.... my little Drama Queen. It may be hard to envision her that way by looking at this lovely photo but, she has her moments. I hate to admit that it is one of the many things I love about her.

Challenge:

I would like you to grab your watch or a timer and create a layout in 1 hour!!! It may be tempting to go over your time limit but it is much more fun to push yourself to create in 1 hour. It is such a rush!!

When you are done, email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the monthly prize draw. The wonderful Basic Grey Marakech line is up for grabs!!
Due Date: February 28th
Draw Date: March 1st

Challenge #9 ~ Flirty

I made this following layout on Monday. I have had it sitting un finished for a few days. I have let it sit there not because I had been battling a case of the sickies. My kids shared their nasty bugs with me. It has been killing me that I haven't been able to adhere all my elements.

I just love how flirty and pretty it turned out. I love to see some lace, flourishes and bling. The pictures were taken of my girls when they were much younger. I have been wanting to scrap them for quite some time but didn't seem to find the right papers and embellishments. Then Penny lane came into my life and it was love at first sight!

Challenge:

Create a pretty and flirty layout. You can use bling, glitter, lace, ribbon or flowers. Don't be afraid to throw flowers on a boy themed page. A great friend of mine always seems to do this and it looks great!

Email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put thynner blog in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for the monthly draw!
Due Date: February 28th
Draw Date: March 1st

Challenge #8 ~ The Cluster

One of the things I have been doing lately is making embellishment clusters. That simply means that I love to layer my embellishments together. I love the added dimension and interest this can add to a page.

I did this layout for Scrapdango and I loved how it turned out. I cut the bird image from one of the Webster's Pages Papers that I received with my DT kit. I then stamped on it using my Hero Arts Script stamp (one of my all time fav stamps). I then inked and used Glimmer Mist on the Magestical Memories Frame that was also in the kit. I placed some cool, glittered sheer fabric under the frame and adhered it to my page. I then attached my bird to the frame. I added a gem to the bird for an eye. I then stamped on the flower, added a button and placed it on the frame as well. Viola... and embellishment cluster.

Challenge:
I would like to see you use an embellishment cluster on your next creation. It can be either a card or layout. Email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this month's blog prize. I have a wonderful collection of Basic Grey Marakech goodies for one lucky winner!

Due Date: February 28th
Draw Date: March 1st
**Remember that you still have time to do some of the other challenges posted this month to earn a ballot. Any challenge posted in February counts as a ballot.**

Challenge #7 ~ The Getaway

My parents just got home from a memorable vacation in the Mayan Riviera. They are both tanned and said that although they had to wear sweaters and coats at night, the days were quite nice. They had quite a few stories to tell.

Most memorable was the explanation of my Mother's swollen and badly bruised face. Apparently, on their third day on vacation they were woken up at 5am when the massive painting that hung over their bed came crashing down off the wall. The painting landed on my mother's face! Could you even imagine?? The entire trip was shadowed by this horrible event. It is a memory that will be always be remembered.

Challenge:
I would like you to blog about your most memorable vacation memory. Was it the destination? Someone you met? Something you saw? Something you ate or did for the first time? What was it?
Please provide a link below. If you don't have a blog then you can email your vacation memory to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca . You will earn an easy ballot for the monthly draw.

***BONUS: Do a layout of a favorite getaway and email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn another ballot for the monthly draw. It is the Nee Basic Grey Marakech Line, stamps and embellies. Awesome stuff!

I've Been Tagged ~ Photo Challenge #4

I've been tagged for the first time by my friend Heather at Scrapdango. I am so excited because this is a fun one!

So what I am supposed to do is:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.

1. Pick the 6th Folder, then select the the 6th picture in that folder.

2. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.

3. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

Now, I happen to have photos saved in various parts of my computer as well as my Portable Hard Drive. This tag just made me realize that I need to move my pictures off of my computer and transfer them to my Portable Hard Drive. Thanks Heather for the kick in the butt!!

So, here is the golden photo. It was in my Back to School folder and it of Paige. She was so upset because school was over and we had to leave to go home. She was so excited that she was in the same class as her best friend Lily and she just loved her first day!! I thin k she was a little overwhelmed and tired. I just love this picture.

This is one of those pictures that you capture and just can't seem to scrap. I love everything about this picture and I just can't seem to use it to scrapbook with. Silly eh?

Now, I have to tag 6 people. I am tagging:

Ally

Michelle

DebbyD

Anne Marie

Wendy

SueB

Challenge #4:

I would like you to take your 6th folder and pick your 6th picture. Use this picture on a layout and email it to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the monthly draw. I have some amazing Basic Grey Marakech goodies for you! A great collection!

4. Cut a strip of patterned paper aprox. 2 x 4 and adhere it to the front flap. Ink if desiered.

Challenge #1 ~ Photo

It's time to get back on track and post a challenge to get you jump started. I hope you are all ready for another round of fun challenges!! I just love to post them all month long.

I have found that at least 98% of my layouts feature my children. They are just such beautiful girls and so easy to scrapbook. They are constantly giving me material to capture on paper.

SO... only 2% of my layouts feature something or someone else. How embarrassing. Really... truly...

I decided to scrap something other than my children. Here is a layout I did for the Scrapping Bug which features my beloved do Storm. He is such a loving and devoted dog. He is such a huge part of the Thynne family and I often neglect to include him on my layouts. Since he will be 13 years old on Paige's birthday this month I thought he deserved to be featured. He is getting old and has tumors growing on his body. He is still happy and generally healthy otherwise. He still plays and runs around. He can still make it up the stairs and gives lots of love. It is just hard to know that he will not be with us forever.

Challenge: I would like you to scrap a photo or photos hat feature no people!! No children, friends, family. You can scrap pets, animals, places and things. Just not people!

Email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this month's blog prize draw. It will be another big and beautiful prize pack!!

Due Date: February 28th

Draw Date: March 1st

Happy Scrapping!

Winners....Winners....Winners.....

This is my favorite time ..... choosing the winners. This month we had three draws to do.

First up was a quick random draw for the free weScrap membership. The lucky winner was:

Donna Lewis!!

Congrats Donna. I have already set her up and she is enjoying her time already!

Next draw was for the Outstanding Mini Album book from my friend Jess Acs. I had an assistant today to draw the name. Yep... it was DD's turn. We placed all the names in the leopard print hand bag she had picked out. She reached in and pulled out the winning ballot...

Hmm.... can you read that?? Try this one...

Congrats to..... Linda Gunther!! Please send me your mailing address and I'll send you the Mini Album book! I expect to receive it next week and will get it out to you then.

Lastly was the draw for the Heidi Swapp goodies!!! There were so many entries this month that I was going to use the random generator but... my daughter got a little upset with me. So, I made up 96 ballots!!! DD then placed them all in her bag.

She pulled out the winning ballot:

You can kinda see it. Hmm... let's get closer again:

A big Congrats to Donna Lewis, Linda Gunther and Lisa Watson.

I will need mailing addresses from both Linda and Lisa. You can email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca.

Another month of challenges begins this week. I wonder what kind of prize pack I can put together this month!
