Challenge #7 ~ Stitch it Up

You all must know by now how much I love to hand stitch on my layouts. I found some amazing rub on stitches in my stash that I got some time ago and thought I threw them out. I am now itching to do some fake stitching!! It will be what I do next.

Here is the last layout I did some hand stitching on. I used the wonderful circle stitch template from Bazzil on it. I made this layout for my friend Michelle as a surprise for her birthday. I still have to hand it over to her. lol

It showcases a wonderful photo I took of her and her youngest son, Will. We went for a fun filled day with Will and Paige at the Railway Museum in St Thomas. It wasn't open for the season yet and the wonderful men there opened it up for a private screening for us. It was an amazing day.

Challenge: Use some stitching on your next layout or card. email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this month's draw.

Due Date: July 31st
Draw Date: August 1st

A Favorite Photo ~ Challenge #11

How often have you snapped a photo and when you've seen it you are blown away. Is it because of the composition? The color? The clarity? Or is it so clear and so perfect that it makes you catch your breath.

I did the following layout for Mon Ame Memories using my DT kit. I used one of those photos that captures the essence of my daughter. Her very soul seems to showing in this photo. Emmy looks so grown up and mature. So beautiful, so graceful. When I loaded this photo on my computer I was literally stunned at how beautiful it was.

Challenge: I would like to see you use your favorite photo or photos in a layout. Then email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this month's blog prize. Please put Thynner bog in the subject line.

Keep checking the blog for some more chances to earn ballots. Don't forget that everyone who is signed in as a follower also receives a ballot for the draw.... every month!

Challenge #3 ~ Use Your Stash

I am learning that it's not good to buy up all the new releases when you have so many sitting in boxes and cupboards in your house. I am trying desperately to organize and purge my supplies. I have come across some amazing paper lines that just get stuck on the bottom of my ever growing pile of papers.

I decided to use the papers that I juts had to have and didn't get around to using. Like this S.E.I. paper called Winnie's Walls. I looked everywhere for it and was thrilled when I got my hands on it. I kept looking at it and thinking just how it's too pretty to use... yet!! Then new papers came and it slowly got lost in the shuffle.

Here is the resulting layout of Paige and her sweet smile.

Quote reads: "Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person. A beautiful thing." ~ Mother Teresa

Challenge: I would like you to find some papers you have laying around that is at least a year old. If you have paper that's at least 2 years old you will receive 2 ballots. For paper that's at least 3 years old... you will receive 3 ballots!! Fun eh??

Email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put thynner blog in the subject line. Please indicate in the email what papers you used so I can make sure you get the right amount of ballots for the amazing blog draw!

Due Date: March 31st
Draw Date: April 1st

Challenge #13 ~ By Hand

One of things I find most compelling on a page is when someone cuts out some elements and adds it to their pages. There are so many beautiful patterned papers out there right now that literally shout at you to cut it up.

Here is a page I did where I cut out some lovely flowers from some Bo Bunny papers and adhered them on the page with some chipboard flowers:

Here is another sample where I cut out various elements from the We R Memory Keepers Nonsense paper:

**Use pop up dots to make your element really POP off the page! I love to do this.

Challenge:
I would like to see you cut out something from your patterned paper and add it to your layout or card. You will earn one ballot for this month's Blog Prize Draw of $50.00 worth of scrappy goodies. Do you love Heidi Swapp?? I'll post a picture later tonight!

Please email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca or provide a link below.

Challenge #9 ~ Blogging

I am so sad today. My daughter brought it to my attention that my birthday is Sunday. I asked her how old I will be and she said "40". Yikes... not yet.

Now I feel the heat of another birthday upon me. Usually they don't bother me. It is just a number after all. I will be 38 on December 28th. It really sucks. Not because I am turning another year older but that my birthday falls three days after Christmas. Every year I have suffered through a quiet birthday. Nobody is ever around to celebrate with. I never had a birthday party. I never got to play Pin the Tail on the Donkey or played cheesy party games. Most of the time I got to pick one of my Christmas presents to save to open on my birthday.

I could tell that my parents felt sorry for me and tried to make my birthday into a big deal. My Dad would let me chose whatever I wanted for my birthday supper. I usually asked for Beef Stroganoff. He used to make an amazing Stroganoff. Yummy!! They would sing Happy Birthday and sometimes I'd get a cake. Then I could unwrap my present wrapped in Christmas paper. I love them for that.

It's better since having children. They get so excited on my birthday and it's infectious. The joy in their faces makes having another birthday not seem so bad!! That is what I am looking forward to the most on Sunday!

Challenge #9:
Here is a simple challenge for you today. I would like you to blog about a favorite birthday memory. It can be about something you did, something you got or somebody else for their birthday. Let me know what made it special for you. You can post a link to your blog below. If you do not have a blog you can email your memory to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca . You will earn a ballot for my big blog draw! Couldn't be any easier.

Deadline: December 31st
Draw Date: January 1st

Challenge #3 ~ The Recipe

I was chatting with the gals at Creative Scrappers about their favorite recipes and about cooking. It made me think about this amazing recipe my friend Kate, from CCAS, gave me. I still make them every Christmas with my girls and they don't last long. I would like to share the recipe with you.

Peanut Butter Tassies:

1/2 Cup brown sugar
1/2 Cup white sugar
1/2 Cup smooth peanut butter
1 egg
1/2 Cup shortening or butter
Pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 Cups flour
Miniature peanut butter cups
candy Tassie or mini-muffin sized paper cups

Yield: 24-36 pieces
Cooking time: 7-8 mins

Preheat oven to: 400 degrees

Line pan with paper cups.
Unwrap 24-36 peanut butter cups and set aside.Cream together peanut butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and shortening.
Add salt, flour and soda. This will be a very stiff dough.Drop small balls of dough (size of a walnut ) into pans.
Bake for 7-8 minutes until very light brown on top.Remove from oven and press unwrapped peanut butter cup
into cookies while still in hot pan.
Let cool slightly and remove from pan; repeat.

I like to decorate the tops of them with a squeeze of green frosting
and a cinnamon candy. It gives them a very festive look for the holidays!

Challenge #3:

I would like you to blog about your favorite recipe. You can link it here in the comment section. If you do not have a blog you can email it to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca . You will earn one ballot for the draw.

Challenge # 1

I promised to post daily challenges this month to give everyone a chance to earn a ballot for the big draw I am having on November 1st. I thought I would start of with a Blog Challenge. I posted this one at Scrapdango and I thought it would be a great one to post here as well.

I thought that with Halloween being this week that I would chose a blog challenge that would fit the theme. This week I want you to blog about your biggest FEAR!! What are you most afraid of in life. It can be something tangible like Sharks (mine...) or emotional. What scares you the most in your life. If you have more than one fear, you can create a list.

Everyone who posts their Fears on their blogs and posts a link in the comments section below will receive a ballot.

BONUS: If you use your Fear(s) on a layout you will earn TWO BONUS BALLOTS!! You can email your creations to: thynner5@yahoo.ca or post a link in the comments.

**All the challenges this week are due in my inbox or on the blog November 1st!!

I am looking forward to seeing what you are most afraid of!!
