4X6 Photo Challenge

You have probably noticed by now that I use alot of 5x7 pictures on my layouts or wallet sizes. I tend to have shied away from using 4x6 pictures. I am not sure why, but I always have. Looking back at my layouts I see that I have never, really used them.

I challenged myself to create a layout using two 4x6 pictures. Why?? Well, I accidentally printed off two pictures in a 4x6 format and didn't want to waste them.

Here is the resulting layout. I loved the papers I used with this layout. It came with a kit from weScrap. They have been putting out some amazing kits lately.

Thee are my girls. These photos were taken after a big play out in the rain. I had asked them to stay still for a photo but they had a serious case of the giggles. I am thankful that they did because I just loved these pictures.

Challenge: Create a layout using at least two 4x6 photos. Email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the Sizzix Embossing Machine. I keep staring at this lovely machine and I am dying to send it out to some lucky girl.

Due: November 30th

LCOM Sketch Blog Reveal & Challenge

Wow... we had such an amazing sketch this week too work with. Guylaine made it with lots of lovely layers. I knew as soon as I saw it just what I was going to create.

The following layout I created features Paige and a Gerber Daisy that won her first prize in her age category and second in show at the Agricultural Fair a couple years ago. She was just so proud of herself and I was proud too.

Quote: "Dont hurry, don't worry. You're only here for a short visit. Be sure to stop and smell the flowers." ~ Walter C. Hagen

I created a tag to jounral on. I sprayed it with some Glimmer Mist because I love an excuse to use it! It was a great way to tell the story behind the photo without cramming it on my layout.

You can view the sketch on the Let's Capture These Sketches Blog and see the other amazing creations.
Challenge: Head on over to the LCOM Sketch Blog and use Guylaine's sketch as the foundation of your next layout. Then email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the Sizzix Embossing Machine. Also, load it in the LCOM Gallery under the Sketch Blog Folder and you could win a prize there as well!!

Challenge #3 ~ Altered Background

Sometimes you get a sheet of paper and you are just not sure what the heck to do with it. The color may be a little off, a little too bright or a little too busy. What do you do? Well, you don't throw it out, you change it!!

I had a sheet of paper that I loved the design of but, the color was wrong for my photos and the layout I had envisioned in my mind. So, I set out to alter it. I grabbed some amazing metallic gold paint by Pebeo that I got at Macpherson Arts and Crafts her in St Marys. I dabbed some on a foam brush and my green paper ended up taking on a completely new look. It now had a lovely gold tone to it. Such a beautiful golden shimmer. I loved working with this paint because it is so smooth to work with and dries quickly. This is a big thing for me as I am a time crunched scrapper and not a very patient one either!!

After I stepped back and looked at it, I decided it needed something more. I grabbed the wonderful Bo Bunny Delilah stamp set that came with the October kit at weScrap and randomly stamped flower images in green ink. I am thrilled with the finished product! Here is Paige encased in gold shimmer and flowers:

The only drawback is that it is hard to take a good photo of a layout with metallic paint. lol
All products on this layout are from the weScrap Kit except for the metallic paint which can be purchased at Macpherson's Arts and Crafts online.
Challenge: I would like to see you alter a piece of patterned paper. You can ink it, sand it, stamp it or paint it. Just make it different some way. Then email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the wonderful Sizzix prize!
Due: November 30th

Challenge #2 ~ Blooming Petals

I just love to add flowers to my layouts. That is one of the many reasons I love having girls. All these wonderful excuses to use them. BUT, sometimes I can't find one that seems to fit with the layout I am creating.

I received this amazing kit from weScrap to design with. Their November kit was awesome.... totally awesome! All the lovely earthy colors were so beautiful. However, I don't have any ready made flowers to use on my layouts to match. What is a girl to do but make her own!!
Earth Love Kit:

Here is my layout of Emmy using this kit. I made the two flowers on this layout. I loved how they turned out. Creating your own flowers guarantees a great coordinating creation.

Challenge: Create your own coordinating flowers. You can use anything you want to make your flowers. I would like to see at least one homemade flower on your layout or card! Email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for my monthly blog draw. I have a great prize for you this month. I'll post the picture and details later today when I get home from work. :)

Due Date: November 30th
Draw Date: December1st
