Just for Fun!!

Some of you may now that my BFF, Ally is moving out to BC and leaves this week. It has been a whirlwind of activity for her as she prepares to move to the other side of Canada and leave her family and friends behind.
We met while designing for Creative Crafts and Stickers. Jen was a darling and entrusted us with running her design teams and after closing her main site, left us to run the Creative Crafts and Stickers Blog. The three of us bonded right away and have such a great friendship that I cherish.

I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with her and Jen at her Mom’s house. We always have a great time together and it is like we are sisters. I am going to miss her…. but at least we live in a computer age and can stay in touch.

Here is a picture of us that my hubby took this afternoon: Tara, Ally & Jen

I must say that I have made my best friends through my scrapbooking. My online friends have become my family. I still have a few I would love to see again and some I would love to even meet!! I need to become rich so I could visit my friends in the US, Montreal, BC and Australia!! You know who you are. :)

Something to Think About

With World Card Day fast approaching I wanted to let everyone know of something special you can do. My friend Brianne, brought this to my attention and I think it is a wonderful idea. Take a moment to check out Cards for Hero's. It is an organization that sends cards to men and women overseas to send home to their loved ones. They also send them to those in the hospital recovering from injuries. Cards of encouragement and gratitude.

I will be making some cards, along with some of my Scrapdango girls, to send overseas. If you chose to make some cards, please email them to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put “Cards for Hero's” in the subject line. For every card you make, you will earn a ballot for this months $50.00 prize draw. All cards must be new and created for Cards for Hero's.

Join me at Scrapdango on October 4th to celebrate National Card Making Day!! Our theme will be “Cards Throughout the Year.” There will be lots and lots of card challenges throughout the day. If you complete the challenges, you will have several cards to use throughout the year. There will be prizes as well!!

If you get some free time please check out my friend Gina's blog called Scrapping for Less . She surfs the web and brings us some great deals on scrappy goodies, great contests and giveaways too. Thanks Gina for doing all the legwork for us. :)

I need to get some sleep. I have a busy day tomorrow. I get to visit my great friend Ally before she heads out to B.C. It still hasn't sunk in yet that she will be so far away. Thank goodness for Skype and the Internet. I have to brush up on my webcam skills.

Wanna Have Some Fun?

Most of my scrappy requests have been for sketch puzzles. I happened upon these a few years ago and I get requests all the time to make them up and post them for challenges.
I am the first person to admit that I am not a sketch creator. I can get by with a little help from my friends. My best friend Ally is my sketch gal. She creates amazing sketches and her sketch blog truly is inspiring. Her current design team is so talented and I check in all the time to see their creations.
I am lucky to call Ally my BFF! She lets me have free reign to showcase her sketches. I have chosen one of her recent sketches, posted on her So Sketchy Blog, to make a sketch puzzle out for you gals to solve, print and create.
I have created two versions of the same sketch. The first one is a medium version and the second, for you die hard puzzle girls, is a harder one.

Medium Version

Hard Version

Now for a little incentive........ Anyone who creates something from this sketch and emails it to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca will have their names entered into a draw for a prize pack worth approximately $50.00!!! That's right! I will be posting challenges this month and you will receive lots of chances to earn this wonderful prize pack of all new CHA goodies!! I will also be posting some mini prize packs throughout the month of October. The draw for the main prize will be at the end of October and the mini prize packs will be spread throughout the month.

FYI.... for anyone who creates with this sketch they can also send it to Ally to be entered into her monthly Prize Draw as well. Double your chances to win!!!!

Have fun and Happy Scrapping!

A Project for Paige

I wanted to do something special for Paige. She currently has a loose tooth and I thought it would be nice to make her a Tooth Fairy Box. It would look so much better than placing her tooth in a baggie and leaving it on her dresser.
We went to the local Dollar Store and found a little wooden box approximately 4x4. We took off the hardware and I let her paint the base color with a Ranger Lime Paint Dauber. She had so much fun and did quite well. No paint ended up on her!!
She then picked the papers she like from my Scrapdango Sugar Kit. I then measured the paper and we cut them to size using my trimmer. I let her put the glue on the box and we placed the papers down. She chose a cool chipboard tag from the kit and I wrote "Tooth Fairy Box" on it. She put together a chipboard button and ribbon and we attached it with a glue dot. Then we added the tag to the top of the box. Next we put the hardware back on.

She also wanted to make a little card for the tooth fairy so that she knew that she could place her money in the box instead of placing it under her pillow. It has been misplaced before that way!!

Again... she picked her colors and wrote her note on the inside.

Here is the final project. Full of love and care. There is nothing quite like doing a project with your children. The sense of pride she had afterwards can not be measured!!

Thanks for looking and I hope it inspires you to create something with your little one.

Scrapdango Reveal Time

I consider myself fortunate everytime I recieve a scrappy box in the mail. I count my lucky stars that people have chosen me to design for them. I had a fresh and funky kit from Scrapdango. Carrie is so sweet to allow a few of us to do a mid month reveal. Being in Canada I usually have only a couple days before the first of the month. I am so grateful she switched it up!!

Here is a peak at the Piggy Tales Sugar Kit:

I created this fun page called Build a Bra. We were camping at Grandpa Larry's for a weekednd of fun and games. He had us split up into two teams and compete against eachother. We had so much fun!! One of the highlights was the Build a Bra Competition. Each team were given a small bag of supplies and we had 5 minutes to Build a Bra. Poor Mike.... what a great sense of humour!

Journaling reads: "Two Teams. Two Balloons. Two masks. One roll of string. One green felt. Five minutes to build a bra."

Another layout I did was of Emmy. As soon as I saw these papers I knew I had the perfect pictures to use. I also had this great quote I have been dying to use as well. I just love how the papers really pop on this page!

Quote reads: " A smile is the window of the soul that indicates that the heart is home."

FYI: I posted a challenge on the CCAS blog using this quote. Hop on over for your chance to win a prize!

I also took the time to alter a couple journals for my twin girls. They are about to turn 9 next month and started a new school this year. I thought it would be nice if they had thier own special journals to write in. In this age of computers it is important to keep up our handwriting skills. I know that my handwriting has soured through the years. I seem to email more than write letter. Sad really.

Close up of DD's Journal.

Close up of Emmy's Journal.

I didn't want to leave Paige out and I made a special something for her as well. Check the blog tomorrow for the pics!
