So Thankful ~ Challenge #9

My turn as a Guest DT for Art Freckles comes to an end today. I have had soooooo much fun hosting a Pirate themed Battleship Game. The girls have really embraced the pirate language and we have been having so much fun shooting and dodging cannons.

I hosted a fun Mystery Layout Challenge where I had the girls "Cook up a Layout". There have been alot of great layouts made.

This kit I had to work with was so lovely that I ended up buying one to giveaway as my blog prize this month!! Along with a Cosmo Cricket Blackboard Album. They will look so awesome together.

Head on over to the AF Store to order your own kit. There are still a few kits left. Or try and get a few of my challenges done this weekend to earn some ballots for the kit!

Thanks again to Shannon for giving me this wonderful opportunity!

I used this month's kit to make this card to express my Thanks to Shannon and the girls at Art Freckles:

Challenge #9:

Celebrate Earth Day ~ Challenge # 5 & 6

The girls and I spent a fun filled day yesterday celebrating Earth Day. We went across to the park with a garbage bag and picked up all the trash that was laying around. We went shopping and purchased some reusable, cotton bags. Our local grocery store is now charging 5 Cents a for a plastic bag!! We have been trying to be more diligent and remember to bring ours whenever we go shopping. Of course, today, the day after Earth Day, I forgot to bring them. D'uh!! My local grocery store lets us "rent" bins to put our groceries in. We purchase the bins and return them the next day for a refund. Way cool!!
I love the idea of using reusable packages on layouts. I love to scour the house for finds to include on my layouts. I adore adding texture to my layouts with cardboard, altering coasters for albums or magnets and using leftover tissue paper and doilies on my pages. I am in the midst of a layout right now that using some reusable materials. You could be amazed at all the stuff you can use. I'll post my layout tomorrow.
Challenge #5:
Post about what your did to celebrate Earth Day on your blog. Then provide a link below or email your response to You will earn a ballot for this months Pink Paislee Prize Pack!!
Challenge #6:
I would like to see you create a layout or card with some found object, something that you wouldn't usually put on a layout. Something that you would either throw away or recycle. Email your creation to me at the email address above to earn a ballot for this months draw!
Due Date: April 31st

Challenge #3 ~ In Bloom

One of the things I love right now is seeing all the flowers shoot up from the earth. The tiny daffodils are showing in my garden right now and my tulips are sprouting up from the earth. There are small blue flowers strewn across the neighbors yard that only last two weeks of the year.

I love using flowers on my layouts as well. All kinds of flowers. Primas, Petaloos, Bazill and even some that are hand cut from paper.
Here on of my favorite layouts of DD. She is bending down to smell the flowers in the park. I snapped a picture of her and hand cut some for my layout. I used the title "In Bloom" for the layout because it fit what I was trying to portray.

Challenge #3:

I would like to see your flowers bloom on your page. You can use a picture of flowers as the center of your page. You can use some premade flowers like Prima or hand make some of your own. I just want to see a layout that blooms.

Email your creation to me at for a ballot for the lovely Pink Paislee prize pack!!

Due Date: April 31st
Draw Date: May 1st

Challenge #1 ~ Defined

One of the things I like to do on my layouts is use a certain word that completely portrays what the layout is all about. I will use this word as my title. Just one word that is strong enough to make an impact.

I also like to include the definition of that word on the page. It adds impact to the layout.

I generally use Merriam-Webster Dictionary to search for the definition of my word.

The following layout is one of my all time favorites that I have ever done. The photos were taken at Eden Ridge during one of Emmy's very first Horse Shows. She amazed me at how much she focused on what everyone was doing and the concentration on her face is amazing!!

Challenge #1:

I would like to see you use a one word title and include the definition of the word on your layout. Then email it to me at to receive a ballot for this month's Blog Prize. I have a great prize pack this month. I can't post it until the 10th so, you will have to wait. :)

Due Date: April 30th
Draw Date: May 1st

March Blog Winner Announcement

I apologize to everyone for the delay in posting the winner. My Dad was quite ill this past week. He is going to be okay but it was scary to see him like that. Thankfully, things will get better.

I enlisted DD to pick this month's winner. We spent quite some time writing the names on strips of paper and cutting them out. We had a total of 95 ballots this month. You girls are awesome and I am really enjoying having you take part in my challenges.

DD sat down and mixed up the ballots:

She reached into the tin and pulled out the winner!!

Is it you?

Congrats to ............................................................................. Jen Benoit!!

Please email your address to me at so I can get your prize sent out.
Thanks again to Sandy at Scrapshotz for an amazing Chatterbox kit!! There are still a few kits left for sale at Scrapshotz!
I will post the first challenge for April tomorrow!
