Challenge #9 ~ Journal

I set out to alter a composition book for my daughter to have for the first day of school. I picked up the journal for $2.00 and had some paper picked out. Somehow.... I was distracted.... (gasp) and I ended up making myself an altered journal.

We have been going to Camp Labamke this summer and we always have such a great time. There are so many wonderful memories that we have made there. They say "what happens at Labamke, stay at Labamke." Well, I may be sworn to secrecy but I can still journal right?? lol

I used some funky papers and die cuts that came in my Mon Ame Memories DT Kit. Love the October Afternoon papers. How perfect for a vacation journal??

I guess I should get to work on Paige's notebook now. :)
Challenge: I would like to see you alter a book or notepad. It's not as hard as it may seem. Just think of it as a smaller canvas to work with. Use some good, clear glue to adhere your papers to the book.
Due: August 31st

Challenge # 5 ~ Journal

One of the things I don't do enough of on my layouts is journal. Not just a quick little note or a quote but to write something with meaning. I usually just post a meaningful quote or a quick little something to remind me of who, what or where. I find it hard to journal with feeling. Not sure why but I want to start to journal more on my layouts.

Here is a layout I did of DD when we gathered for our first family picnic after my dear father-in-law passed away. It was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the little ones were all playing and all of the family was there. The sprinkler was going and we even had water balloons. The kids all had their bathing suits on and were laughing and playing.

I caught DD sitting on the bench in the gazebo. She looked so sad and pensive. After I took her picture, I sat down and asked her why she was so sad. She told me it was because her Papa wasn't there and she didn't want to play. She was just too sad.

Here is my layout using that picture I took that way and journaling to remember the moment:

Challenge:I would like to see you include some meaningful journaling on your next creation. Email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this month's blog prize draw.

Wanna know what the prize is this month?? I'll post details tomorrow. I am really excited about this one.

Due Date: March 31st
Draw Date: April 1st

Scrapdango Reveal Time

I consider myself fortunate everytime I recieve a scrappy box in the mail. I count my lucky stars that people have chosen me to design for them. I had a fresh and funky kit from Scrapdango. Carrie is so sweet to allow a few of us to do a mid month reveal. Being in Canada I usually have only a couple days before the first of the month. I am so grateful she switched it up!!

Here is a peak at the Piggy Tales Sugar Kit:

I created this fun page called Build a Bra. We were camping at Grandpa Larry's for a weekednd of fun and games. He had us split up into two teams and compete against eachother. We had so much fun!! One of the highlights was the Build a Bra Competition. Each team were given a small bag of supplies and we had 5 minutes to Build a Bra. Poor Mike.... what a great sense of humour!

Journaling reads: "Two Teams. Two Balloons. Two masks. One roll of string. One green felt. Five minutes to build a bra."

Another layout I did was of Emmy. As soon as I saw these papers I knew I had the perfect pictures to use. I also had this great quote I have been dying to use as well. I just love how the papers really pop on this page!

Quote reads: " A smile is the window of the soul that indicates that the heart is home."

FYI: I posted a challenge on the CCAS blog using this quote. Hop on over for your chance to win a prize!

I also took the time to alter a couple journals for my twin girls. They are about to turn 9 next month and started a new school this year. I thought it would be nice if they had thier own special journals to write in. In this age of computers it is important to keep up our handwriting skills. I know that my handwriting has soured through the years. I seem to email more than write letter. Sad really.

I didn't want to leave Paige out and I made a special something for her as well. Check the blog tomorrow for the pics!
