Challenge #27 ~ Hide It

This is a simple challenge to do. It just so happens that one of the first things I learned when I started out scrapping was how to hide your journaling. I never used to feel comfortable expressing my thoughts directly on my layout and I was constantly hiding my journaling behind my photos. Most of the time I just made simple tags, other times I would use hinges and hide my journaling behind a photo.
Here is a layout I completed where I wrote on a tag and slipped it behind a photo of Paige.

Challenge: Find a spot on your next layout to hide your journaling. Email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this months 9 sponsored prizes!!
Due Date: June 30th
Draw Date: July 1st

Challenge #24 ~ Art Challenge

I wish I could fill my house up with lots of wonderful art pieces. BUT... I can't really afford it especially with this scrapping addiction I already have.

I do like to go through the Internet and check out different art pieces. I have even been inspired to create a layout based on something I have seen.

I came across this particular cool art this morning and I am inspired by various elements it has in it.

Challenge:

Use this piece of art as inspiration for your next layout or card. There are so many different elements to it that you could use. I plan on creating a layout based on it tomorrow. I already have it floating around in my head.

Email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for one of the amazing sponsored prizes this month,

Due Date: June 30th
Draw Date: July 1st

I will be posting another great sponsor tomorrow.

Challenge #22 ~ Paint It

I love to use paint on my layouts. I even line and distress my photos with paint. I add paint to my embellies and I have even made a whitewash on paper I found to be too loud for my layout.

In this layout I stripped down some cardboard. You all should know by now that I love cardboard. I then used two shades of paint, white and teal. When I was done I wanted to give it that little something extra so I sprayed it with my fav Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.... in Pearl. This is a must have for every scrapper out there. It adds just a great, subtle shine and shimmer. I also used it on the butterflies I made for the layout.
Here is the layout I did of Paige. She is such a sweet, goofy girl. Always making me laugh and smile everyday.

Does it kind of look a little familiar??? It is my scraplift layout. I told you I was planning on doing one. I lifted a great layout by Tara Orr. Here is her version:

Congrats to Tara because she earns a ballot for the scraplift. Several of you have done the scraplift challenge and earned a ballot for a fellow scrapper. How cool is that???
Challenge: I would like you to paint on your layout somewhere and ad some shimmer, glitter or bling. Email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for one of the many 9 sponsored prizes!!
Happy Scrapping!

Challenge #18 ~ Texturize It

I must apologize for the delay today. I wanted to post a wonderful RAK I received as a prize for the blog. I had it all set up to take a photo and then I ended up burning my hand . It has been soaking in cool water ever since. Even now, I have my left hand in a yellow, plastic glass and I am typing with one hand.
It is Steve's 40th birthday today. I planned a special BBQ for him. I purchased extra thick steaks and I marinated them all day. I bought real baked potatoes too.I was precooking the potatoes in the microwave and when they were done I reached in and grabbed the plate. It was steaming hot!! I used the wrong plate and I seriously burned my hand. I have blisters on three fingers and a thumb. I am in agony!! Not just from the pain.....I had to make Steve cook and serve his own birthday supper as I lay on the couch with my hand in a bowl of cold water. It still hurts so much that even after two hours, I still have to have it submerged in water. My fingers are pruned!!Poor Steve. He had to get up early (5am) and he had to stay late. Then he walk in the door to me telling him to light the BBQ and cook our super. I suck!! Good thing he loves me.

So, I will be posting the sponsor highlight in the morning when I can take a photo of the generous RAK in the light of day. Kristine is amazing!! You'll love it.

In the meantime.... let's do another challenge!! One of the things I love to see on a layout is texture!! Lots of it.

Here is a layout I did for weScrap using the new Cherry Sundae kit. What an awesome kit this was to work with. Love the colors. I am a huge October Afternoon fan and a happy designer when I received my kit! I added texture by incorporating cardboard in my layout and using felt stickers.

The layout features Steve and Paige. We went to Apple Land last fall and picked our own apples. Steve had to hoist Paige up so she could pick apples from the tree. We all had such a wonderful time and plan on visiting again this year.

Challenge: I would like you to add some texture to your layout. You can use cardboard, felt, lace, ribbons, paint or fabric. You can also emboss. It is such a quick and easy way to add texture. Email your layout or card to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn another ballot for the celebration prizes!!

Due Date: June 30th
Draw Date: July 1st

Sponsor Spotlight #4 ~ The Scrapping Bug & Challenge

When CCAS closed it's forum and it's store I was so sad that I would no longer be on a design team. Then the opportunity to design for the Scrapping Bug came about. I was lucky to design for them for two terms and teach in the amazing store.

Kim has offered up a prize for my blog readers. I went to the store for a class with Vicki Boutin and picked it out. I don't usually take classes that much anymore as I rather love teaching BUT.. when Vicki is in town I just have to be there.

Did you know that The Scrapping Bug has been around for 7 years now?? Wow... how great is that? Here is what Kim says on the website:

"A special thank you to all of our valued customers, friends and suppliers who have made it possible to celebrate seven great years of operation at The Scrapping Bug. It has been a whirlwind and highly successful seven years. It is also an honour to know that we are Ontario’s longest reigning retail scrapbook store. Happy Scrapbooking."

Thanks Kim for helping me out and sponsoring a prize! You're the best!

Challenge:
Hop on over to The Bug and introduce yourself here: Big Bug Hug. Don't forget to tell them that Tara sent you. - 1 ballot
Email me the list of the current Design team members at thynner5@yahoo.ca. - 1 ballot
Check out the challenges the designers post in the forum. Design Team Challenges. Pick one to complete a layout and email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca. make sure to let me know the challenge date when you send it to me. - 2 ballots

Challenge #13 ~ Anger Management

It is time for some anger management. Have you ever been frustrated and just wanted to throw something or rip something apart?? Well now is your chance.

Here is a layout I did for weScrap using the Lyrics of the Heart kit. Love this kit. It is so versatile. I took out my frustrations and relieved my stress by tearing some paper and crumpling some as well. I took the song lyric paper and crushed it into a ball. I then opened it up and did it again. What fun!! :)

Challenge: I would like to see you make a tear or two on your page and/or crumple some paper. Then email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for one of the amazing sponsored prizes!! I will spotlight another one this weekend.

Due: June 15th

Sponsor Spotlight #2 ~ Art Freckles

I have been lucky to have come across this friendly, family like site. It is a wonderful community of girls that instantly embrace you and make you feel welcome. Art Freckles has become home for me. I won a Guest DT spot and I haven't been able to leave.

Shannon has offered up this wonderful prize to one of my lucky blog readers. Isn't it wonderful?? She is such a sweet and generous person. I hope to meet her in real life someday. She is an Ontario gal like me. :)

Here is what Shannon says on the site:

"Art Freckles originally came to me as an idea for a stamp company, but that was something I really wasn't sure I wanted to take on. Then one day, a friend of mine suggested I open an Etsy Store to sell some of my art in, (sewing, scrappy stuff etc.) So alas, Art Freckles came to life! I then decided to take things one step further, and dive into the world of kit clubs! I really love the whole idea of a monthly kit. I mean, scrapbooking goodness delivered right to your door? And then as an added bonus, it's all co-ordinated and ready for you to dive right in to! What's not to love about that??? The problem, I felt, was that despite all the wonderful and amazing kit clubs out there, a lot of them are just out of the average gals (or guys) price range. So what I wanted to do was create 'affordable' monthly kits. Kits that offer the same incredible value, and product goodness, but that are a little easier on the bank account!

There are no subscriptions to sign up to at Art Freckles, all kits are first come first serve! Every kit will be full of scrappy goodness, and the Design Team will be here with layout and projects to inspire you. "

The kits that Shannon puts together are beautiful. I have purchased quite a few so far and they sell out quite well. The current kit is so beautiful.

Thank you Shannon for your generous prize. You rock!

What do you have to do to win it?? Just complete some challenges here on my blog to earn a ballot. Every challenge you do earns you a ballot. Every follower of my blog gets a ballot as well. Isn't it just fabulous??

Challenge:

This will be easy. Go and sign up on the forum and introduce yourself to earn one ballot. Please say that you heard of the site through Tara's Blog. That will make it easier for me to check and make sure you receive a ballot. Also... you can make up to 5 random posts throughout the site. For each post you can earn a ballot up to a maximum of 5!! That is a potential 6 ballots for checking out the forum!

Note: If you are already a registered member of Art Freckles you will earn a ballot as well. Just send me an email letting me know to earn your free ballot. :)

Then go check out the design team and email their names to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn another ballot.

Due: June 15th

Found Objects ~ Challenge #10

One of the things I love doing is picking apart the girls treasures once they are done with them. I love taking the lace off of Barbie clothes, the beads off of pretty necklaces, the ribbons off of old teddy bears and the charms from braclets and such. There is a treasure trove of embellies around your home just begging to be used in almost every room. All you have to do is put on your Sherlock Holmes hat and do some sleuthing.

The butterfly I used on the following layout literally fell at my feet. I took the girls out to see where Steve was working in Stratford. There was a swan that was laying eggs and the town sectioned off a portion of the park, right under the bridge Steve was working on. We to take a peek at the nest she had built with the caution tape from the construction site. :)

I thought that since it was a beautiful day, that we would take some pictures. Paige was so tired and really didn't want her photo taken. I got this fun one of her pouting and I just had to scrap it. I used the April kit from Mon Ame Memories. I had so much fun with this one. I sanded the edges of the Core-dinations cardstock to get a fun, distressed look.

Do you notice the butterfly embellishment?? It is the same one that is in the photo of Paige, on her headband. When we headed home, she fell asleep. I had to wake her up when we got home. I opened the door and when she lifted her head, her pretty headband broke and the butterfly fell on the ground, at my feet!! I asked her if I could keep it and I used it on this layout.

Challenge:

Look around your home or office and find something unique that you wouldn't normally use for scrapbooking. Use it on a layout and email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for one of the 8 sponsored prizes!!

Due: June 15th

**Look for the next sponsor spotlight tomorrow!

Challenge #5 ~ No Cardstock

I am excited to keep all these challenges coming!

One of things I find I am using less of in my layouts is cardstock. I have discovered the joys of printing my photos with borders and using those instead of wasting my white cardstock to mat my photos.

There are also so many cute die cut journal spots and journaling stamps that I seem to be using these instead of cardstock as well.

Here is a layout I did for the Creative Scrappers Birthday Celebration. It features my lovely Paige and shows how I hope she will forever stay young. I used the kit that I received from Art Freckles when I was the GDT!

Challenge:
Create a layout or two cards without using any cardstock. Nice and easy..... except if you always use cardstock. :)

Email your creations at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for over 8 different sponsored prizes!!

I will be posting the first sponsor highlight tomorrow morning. It rocks!!

Due Date: June 15th

Happy Scrapping!
