Challenge #8 ~ Spring it On

I loved being able to feel the sun on my face this week and walk around with a light sweater. I was able to wear my running shoes outside and not have to lug on my boots and my heavy coat. I am more than ready for spring now.
I had just received my kit from Scrapdango and when I opened it I immediately thought how the colors reminded me of Spring. Here is the first layout I did. It features Paige. This photo was taken a couples summers ago. I was on the phone for a while with a friend long distance. I was sitting on the patio. I could hear the girls laughing and giggling in the house. I glanced up when they came out of the house. Paige was all dressed up in a princess gown and a pretty flower necklace. She had let her sisters put on some make-up and nail polish on her. She was so thrilled and happy. I grabbed my camera and took this great shot of her.

Challenge #8:

I would like to see some spring colors on your next card or layout. Show me the some pretty greens, pinks, purples and/or yellows. It about time we broke out those lovely colors that remind us of green grass and pretty flowers.
Email your creation at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for this month's awesome prize. A complete kit from Scrapshotz featuring the brand new Chatterbox release. It is such a pretty and fantastic prize to win!
Due Date: March 31st
Draw Date: April 1st

Challenge #14 ~ Shaped Paper

On of my favorite trends the last year has been the use of shaped paper in scrapping. I am a huge fan and seem to buy all of it. My favorites right now are the shaped papers in Crate and Making Memories. There are so many ways to use shaped paper. You can cut it up and use it on your page or.... you can do what I did and use it as a base.

Here is a layout I did for Scrapdango using their Sugar kit for this month. I used the lovely shaped paper as my background and used it to celebrate my parents 40th anniversary. This paper line is fantastic to use with vintage pictures or photos that you transfer to either black and white or sepia.

Challenge:

I would like to see you either incorporate shaped paper into your layout or use it as a base for a layout. If you don't have any shaped paper, you can make your own very easily.

Please email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Thynner Blog Challenge in the subject line to earn a ballot for this months jam packed Heidi Swapp prize pack.

Due Date: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st

Happy Scrapping!

I know alot of you were disappointed that the new Art Freckles kit that I posted sold out so quickly.

Well... I have a surprise for you!! Shannon decided to put together another amazing kit since it is her birthday this month and since she loves surprises!! Check out this beautiful WRMK's kit:

This kit contains:
8 sheets of 12x12 double sided patterned paper from WRMK Heart Attack Line
(2 of each design)
* Be Mine
* Crush
* Honey Bunny
* Twitterpated
6 sheets of Bazzill cardstock (2 ea. of Lily White, Buttercream, and Dragonfly)
1 pkg. Scrap-icing Loopy Daisies
1 pkg WRMK glitter brads Heart Attack Line
1 pkg WRMK glitter lace Heart Attack Line
1 pkg WRMK designer eyelets & snaps Heart Attack Line
1 sht. WRMK embossed stickers Heart Attack Line
1 pkg. Bazzill 3/4" ruby red blossoms
2 yards cream lace

It is available right now to buy. I wouldn't wait too long because they go so fast!

Challenge #6:
I would like to see you do a 2 page layout. I started out doing 2 page layouts almost 5 years ago. I remember how scared I was to try a single page layout. Now, most of my layouts are single pages and I rarely do 2 pages anymore.

The thing that I do love about a double page layout is that I can fit so much more photos. It is a great way to showcase 4 or more photos.

Here is a layout I did for Scrapdango. Thank goodness Carrie likes double page layouts. It pushes me to create more.

Yep... it's Paige surrounded by lots of Arctic Chill goodness. We had so much fun sledding at Grandpa Larry's on New Years Day. We were oblivious to the cold and rosy cheeks we all got.

Please email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca or link it below. You will earn a ballot for this month's draw worth $50.00 of new goodies!! I'll compile a list of goodies for tomorrow!

Due Date: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st

Scrapdango Crowned Competition

Scrapdango is celebrating 3 years, and we are doing it in style again with our very own “Crowned Pageant” contest. Okay, have you heard of the CW’s new show “Crowned?”…..Well if you haven’t you can come check out our version of “Crowned” ScrapDango style! Come join us for 4 weeks of Crowned Competition ScrapDango style!

There will be weekly pageant competition challenges that will challenge your creativity. Each week someone will be SASHED Princess of Scrapdango. (Prizes involved too!) Is there a catch….well of course…it wouldn’t be fun if there wasn’t a catch. NO ONE gets sent home. You all have to live/scrap and experience PAGEANT LIFE with each other for the 4 weeks for the month of February.

You will be competing for points. Each week the DT will award points 1-10 for each contestant’s creation. The contestant with the most points at the end of the competition goes home with an awesome prize package! (Including a Guest Design Spot that includes a full kit)I f you are lucky enough to be SASHED, you will be getting some extra goodies along the way as well. The DT will choose one contestant who was the favorite for that week to be “Sashed.” You may only win this one time during the compettion.

There will be other challenges along the way as well, such as scavenger hunts, posting challenges, games, etc. These are voluntary, but they do help you to accumulate more points. The weekly pageant challenges are mandatory. The only way you will be de-sashed and leave the Pageant is if you fail to do the weekly challenges.

We at Scrapdango want this contest to be a little different. We want to get to know our existing members better and to make some new members in the process. To play you must visit the forums, say hello and register in the Official sign up“Crowned” Thread. So toss in some makeup, an evening gown, and bathing suit, along with your scrappin bags and pick your bedroom in the Crowned House here at ScrapDango!

**The first challenge will be issued February 1st.

We are really excited to host this contest again for everyone. It was so mych fun that we just had to do it again. Please head over to Scrapdango and sign up in the Sign up Thread. When you register, don't forget to tell them Tara referred you.

Chipboard Wall Hanging Tutorial & Challenge #1

Welcome to my Chipboard Wall Hanging Tutorial.

You’ll need to gather up the following supplies:

Chipboard
3 Patterned Papers (I used Bella Blvd-Scrapdango Sugar Kit)
Cutting System
Coordinating cardstock
crop-a-dile or hole punch setter
Eyelets
Embellishments
Ribbon

1. Cut the chipboard into 3 squares measuring 6X6 inches. Cut the coordinating cardstock the same.

2. Adhere the cardstock to the chipboard and ink and/or sand the edges.

3. Measure in 1 ½ inches in from the edges of two of the squares and ½ from the top or bottom edge. Mark it with a pencil and poke your holes. Add your eyelets.

4. Cut out the patterned paper and adhere them onto your squares.
5. Cut four 4 inch strips of ribbon and pull through the eyelets. Adjust the length to your liking and adhere or knot the ribbon on the back.

6. Cut a 6 inch ribbon for the very top holes. Pull through and either adhere or knot this as well.

7. Now your Chipboard Wall Hanging is ready to embellish. You can add your photos now or wait for the right ones. Hope you enjoy making these as much as I do!

Challenge #3 ~ Cover It

I am a little behind right now. I have been battling strep throat and an ear infection and my Mom is quite ill as well. I will get caught up.... starting with another blog challenge!

This challenge entails covering up your chipboard! I admit that I love to pull out the paint, chalk or inks to cover my chipboard with. I also like to stamp and stickle my hipboard as well.

I recieved an amazing kit from Scrapdango an in it was some funky Maya Road tree shaped chipboard. Man.... was I ever excited about them.

I traced the top tree onto some of the green pattered paper from the Bella Blvd line. Yummy!! I then adhered it to my chipboard. On the base I used some awesome Ranger Crackle Paint. It gave the tree trunk a realistic look. I then grabbed a Maya Road bird that came with the kit and inked it with two diferent colors. I added a cute Kaiser Kraft pearl for the eye.

Here is my finished layout:

So... look through your stash of chipboard and cover it up. Then... place it on a layout. Email your layout to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot into this month's $50.00 Blog Rak draw. Remember you are creating to win the following:
October Afternoon Tab Book
Pink Paislee Pixie Stixs
Glimmer Mist
Crate Paper Prudence Paper Line
Crate Paper Rub ons
Mambi Rhinestones/Gems

I'll post another challenge on Wednesday!

Challenge # 2 ~ Door Hanger Project

I had put together a fun little Bonus Project for Scrapdango last month. I whipped up an adorable door hanger for Paige and I wanted to provide you with instructions to make your own. I wanted to share it with you here:

Supplies: ruler
Scissors
Adhesive
1 ½ inch circle punch or exacto knife
Papers and die cuts
Thick cardstock or thin chipboard.

You can use the following template as your guide:

Instructions: 1. Cut a thin piece of chipboard or a thick piece or cardstock 9 x 4 ½ inches.

2. Approximately ½ from the top punch your circle or use your exacto knife to cut the shape.

3. Cut from the right hand side of your circle right to the edge. ** see template**

4. Adhere your papers to the door hanger. Embellish with die cuts.

I used the charming sugar kit papers and hand cut a butterfly. I popped some die cuts up for added dimension. I added some bling and the cool mini letter stickers.

The Challenge: I would like to see you make a Door Hanger for a loved one or even yourself!! A nice, simple project that looks so great when it's done!
