Challenge # 2 ~ Door Hanger Project

I had put together a fun little Bonus Project for Scrapdango last month. I whipped up an adorable door hanger for Paige and I wanted to provide you with instructions to make your own. I wanted to share it with you here:

Supplies: ruler
Scissors
Adhesive
1 ½ inch circle punch or exacto knife
Papers and die cuts
Thick cardstock or thin chipboard.

You can use the following template as your guide:

Instructions: 1. Cut a thin piece of chipboard or a thick piece or cardstock 9 x 4 ½ inches.

2. Approximately ½ from the top punch your circle or use your exacto knife to cut the shape.

3. Cut from the right hand side of your circle right to the edge. ** see template**

4. Adhere your papers to the door hanger. Embellish with die cuts.

I used the charming sugar kit papers and hand cut a butterfly. I popped some die cuts up for added dimension. I added some bling and the cool mini letter stickers.

The Challenge: I would like to see you make a Door Hanger for a loved one or even yourself!! A nice, simple project that looks so great when it's done!

Email your creation to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Thynner Blog Challenge in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for this month's Blog Draw!!

I have compiled almost $50.00 worth of product again. Here is a run down:
October Afternoon Tab Book
Pink Paislee Pixie Stix
Glimmer Mist
Crate Paper Prudence Paper Line
Crate Paper Rub ons

I'm In Mourning.....

It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my camera. I am taking this loss very hard and I am finding it difficult to even get my head off the pillow in the morning. The girls and Steve have been trying to take my mind of this terrible tragedy and even though I do appreciate the distraction it doesn't make the loss any easier to bear.

My Mom.... bless her heart..... has given me her camera to use in the meantime. I feel like such a traitor even having it in my house. I can't even bring myself to hold it in my hands. My loss is still too fresh.

I have had my darling Olympus in my life for over two years now. Two, long, glorious years. It has seen me through some great times. Some family triumphs and some low times too. It has helped document my Father-in-law and my Dad's cancer battles, my children's milestones and my hubby's amazing work. It has been to the beach, Canada's Wonderland, Pumpkinfest, concerts, modeling contests, riding shows and to meet all my friends. I know my camera will miss our fun times this summer at Camp Labamke and seeing all the children's smiling faces.

I still have it sitting on my desk. A testament to my love and admiration for all it has done for me.
I guess I feel some guilt for it's demise and that is why I can't part with it just yet. I was at the girls birthday party at McCulley's Farm and I bent down to tie up my shoelace and it came flying out of my case and crashed on the cement floor. Oh the agony.... oh the pain it must have gone through.

I tried to take a photo after the tragic accident and although it took the photo, the photo was in a 3D look. I took it to be looked at but, the look in the technician's eyes told me all was lost.

At least I will always treasure the last two photos I took. They may look off to most but they mean the world to me.

I will share my last two photos with you. The first one was of Paige and the second one was of a chair and pumpkin. Alas, unless I am in need of a special effect photo, my Olympus will be sitting on my shelf. A constant reminder of all I have lost due to my careless and reckless behavior that fateful day.

I hope everyone will take the time today to hug your camera and tell it how much it means to you. You never know when it may be gone from your life.

In Loving Memory of my Olympus SP-510UZ:

I will be back tomorrow with another challenge for you to girls. I just a little more time today. Thank you for your understanding.

Challenge # 1

I hope everyone is ready for some new challenges this month. I am really excited to have another month long contest. I think I will post a big week long challenge blitz again at the end of the month. Check back daily of some time limited chances to win. I may even post a bonus RAK like I did last month.

We all have our comfort zone and generally stick it on a regular basis. It is where we tend to use the same type of products, the same style and the same techniques. We know what it will produce. SOMETIMES... it's fun to step outside of the box and create something you wouldn't normally do. If you are a 12x12 scrapper.... you can scrap an 8x11, 8x8, 6x6 or and 6x12. If you are always creating linear pages where everything is always straight and even, try turning a few elements on it's side. If you like everything crisp and clean, grunge, ink and tear. If you tend to use three colors all the time, then switch to colors you don't use or the opposite colors on a color wheel.

For me.... I did a round layout. I love trying to make everything fit in a circle. I used a great sketch from Ally that was posted on her SO Sketchy Blog. If you haven't done a circle layout before.... give it a go!! You can also find some great sketches at PageMaps. Click on the round maps.

If you look at a circle layout and wonder what the heck to do with it.... I know alot of people (myself included) who place it on a piece of coordinating cardstock and put it in an album.

So... my challenge to you is to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. It could be a round layout, like me. It could be a different size layout, use a new style or a new technique.

Please email your creations to me at: thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Thynner Blog Challenge in the subject line so it doesn't get lost in my emails. You will receive a ballot for every challenge you complete!!
**Due date: December 1st at midnight EST**

I'll post a picture of what you're playing for this month..... tomorrow. Look out... I have another great selection for you.

Happy Scrapping!

Blog Winner Announcement

Since this was such a fun month long challenge I didn't want to just use an online random generator. I wanted to do this the old fashioned way!! Since DD is still home sick I decided to include her in the draw.

We tallied up all the ballots. I am still in shock that we had 66 ballots!! The gallery is full of wonderful creations and a bunch of you blogged and commented as well. There were even a couple gals who did all of the challenges. You rock!!

We wrote every one's name down on a piece of paper and DD grabbed her purple flower box to put them all in. She then brushed her hair and checked her jammies. We then went out on the porch and she sat down on "Ally".

After mixing up the ballots with a twirl of her hand..... she reached in and ..... grabbed a ballot!!

She then held it up to show us who won the big RAK valued at over $50.00 of new products. Can you see your name??

Yep.... the winner of my first ever Blog Rak is..................................................................

..............................................................Heather H!!

Please email me your mailing address at: thynner5@yahoo.ca.

I hope everyone takes a minute to click on the gallery and check out all the amazing cards and layouts that were submitted this month!!

**Remember that I am starting another round for this month too. Hmmm... wonder what kind of a RAK I can come up with?? Check this Friday for my first challenge and this weekend for a peak at the RAK!

Final Challenge

I am all set to go to bed now. It's been a long day. I had both DD and Paige home today. They are still so sick. I actually had DD at the hospital for over three hours today undergoing tests. I am so tired but I dare not complain. It is nothing compared to my sweet little ones being sick.

SO... I wanted to post a final challenge. It couldn't be any easier either!! Just post a comment in this thread letting me know what your favorite challenge was. What you liked best about spending time on my blog? I also want to know whether you'd be interested in doing it all again next month. Another prize, various challenges posted through the month with a week long blast?? Did you like it? Hate it? Want me to change it? Let me know.

*Everyone who posts a comment before 11 am EST will earn a ballot.

I am looking forward to reading your comments! :)
