Challenge #3 ~ Vintage

I love it when I come across and old photograph and become inspired to create a layout. I found this old picture of my Dad with my Gran that was taken when he was a young boy. It is such a sweet, loving photograph and it just begged to be scrapped.

If anyone was lucky enough to scoop up the Chatterbox papers before they were discontinued... they make a perfect backdrop for your heritage or vintage layouts.




I have to tell you how happy I was to hear that Melody Ross is still creating lovely paper lines!!

I tried to keep them easy and in the right places. I hate frying my brain on the ones that are all mixed up and squished together. Oy... those hurt my head.

Challenge #1 ~ Defined

One of the things I like to do on my layouts is use a certain word that completely portrays what the layout is all about. I will use this word as my title. Just one word that is strong enough to make an impact.

I also like to include the definition of that word on the page. It adds impact to the layout.


I generally use Merriam-Webster Dictionary to search for the definition of my word.



The following layout is one of my all time favorites that I have ever done. The photos were taken at Eden Ridge during one of Emmy's very first Horse Shows. She amazed me at how much she focused on what everyone was doing and the concentration on her face is amazing!!

Challenge #1:

The Lighter Side ~ Challenge #9

When I look at my pages that I create I almost always smile. They feature my girls, all sweet and adorable. Every picture has a story behind it and that is what I like to portray in my layouts.

What about the ones that make you laugh. A funny photo or a funny story?? I like to capture the humour in everyday life as well.

Here is my first DT layout for Mon Ame Memories. I loved the colors in the March Kit. Sorry girls.... this kit is officially sold out. I was so lucky. When I opened my kit I knew right away what photo I was going to scrap first.

Here are Emmy, DD and their good friend Cameron. We were out during March Break for an adventure. We drove around, took pictures and laughed alot. My friend Michelle captured this fun photo against an amazing wall. The colors were perfect. Love all the texture in the photo. Great pic Michelle!!

Challenge:

Show me the lighter side of your life. Scrap a funny moment that happened in your life either to you or a loved one. What has made you laugh lately?? Scrap that. Or if you have a funny photo that makes you chuckle, then scrap that. Just showcase something funny. At least something that's funny to you. :)

Challenge # 5 ~ Journal

One of the things I don't do enough of on my layouts is journal. Not just a quick little note or a quote but to write something with meaning. I usually just post a meaningful quote or a quick little something to remind me of who, what or where. I find it hard to journal with feeling. Not sure why but I want to start to journal more on my layouts.



Here is a layout I did of DD when we gathered for our first family picnic after my dear father-in-law passed away. It was such a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the little ones were all playing and all of the family was there. The sprinkler was going and we even had water balloons. The kids all had their bathing suits on and were laughing and playing.



I caught DD sitting on the bench in the gazebo. She looked so sad and pensive. After I took her picture, I sat down and asked her why she was so sad. She told me it was because her Papa wasn't there and she didn't want to play. She was just too sad.



Here is my layout using that picture I took that way and journaling to remember the moment:
