Challenge #15 ~ Titles

I was just sitting here at the computer listening to my blog music as I checked my emails and I just came up with a fun challenge.

How often do you listen to music and think that either the words or the title would make a great scrapbook page? I do this all the time. Music is such a big part of my everyday life. The girls all sing and Steve plays the guitar. Emmy is beginning guitar lessons next week and DD is set to start piano lessons. I sit an watch in awe as they sing together when Steve pulls out the guitar. I am a terrible singer and can't carry a tune so, I juts sit back and watch. The girls prefer it that way. lol

Challenge:
I would like you to take a look at my play list on the left hand side of the blog. Scroll through all the songs and pick one to use as the title on your layout or card. I just picked one out and plan on scrapping it after lunch. There are so many cool ideas there!
Email your to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot for the Heidi Swapp prize draw!

**** I have decided to give everyone an extra day to send me their January creations. You now have until midnight Sunday.****

Due Date: February 1st
Draw Date: February 2nd

Challenge #14 ~ Shaped Paper

On of my favorite trends the last year has been the use of shaped paper in scrapping. I am a huge fan and seem to buy all of it. My favorites right now are the shaped papers in Crate and Making Memories. There are so many ways to use shaped paper. You can cut it up and use it on your page or.... you can do what I did and use it as a base.

Here is a layout I did for Scrapdango using their Sugar kit for this month. I used the lovely shaped paper as my background and used it to celebrate my parents 40th anniversary. This paper line is fantastic to use with vintage pictures or photos that you transfer to either black and white or sepia.

Challenge:

I would like to see you either incorporate shaped paper into your layout or use it as a base for a layout. If you don't have any shaped paper, you can make your own very easily.

Please email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Thynner Blog Challenge in the subject line to earn a ballot for this months jam packed Heidi Swapp prize pack.

Due Date: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st

Challenge #13 ~ By Hand

One of things I find most compelling on a page is when someone cuts out some elements and adds it to their pages. There are so many beautiful patterned papers out there right now that literally shout at you to cut it up.

Here is a page I did where I cut out some lovely flowers from some Bo Bunny papers and adhered them on the page with some chipboard flowers:

Here is another sample where I cut out various elements from the We R Memory Keepers Nonsense paper:

**Use pop up dots to make your element really POP off the page! I love to do this.

Challenge:
I would like to see you cut out something from your patterned paper and add it to your layout or card. You will earn one ballot for this month's Blog Prize Draw of $50.00 worth of scrappy goodies. Do you love Heidi Swapp?? I'll post a picture later tonight!

Challenge #12 ~ Black and White

One of the things I like to see is a black and white photograph, especially on a layout.

Here is a layout I just did for Scrapdango using a great shot of my family which was taken by Lori Anne Franklin. I love how the Crate papers make the photo stand out. Notice the sheer, sparkle fabric under my title?? I saved that from a Cinderella Doll my dog unfortunately ate of Paige's. I love how fabric can add some interesting details and texture to a layout!

Challenge:

Please us a black and white photo on your next creation. It can be one that you convert to black and white or an older photo that has been sitting in an album on a shelf.

Email your creation to thynner5@yahoo.ca or provide a link below. You will earn a ballot for the $50.00 value Rak that I have up for grabs!

Scrapdango Blog Challenge

I posted the following Blog Challenge at Scrapdango this week:

I was chatting with my Mom the other day about when I was young. It is always to cute to think about the things you said or did when you were little.
I would like everyone to blog about their earliest childhood memory. Close your eyes and think back to when you were little. How young were you and what memory first pops into your head?
I can't wait to read everyone's earliest memories!!

Living in Germany: My earliest memories are when my Dad was stationed in Germany. I was around 4 years old and we had a German Shepard named Sasha who had puppies. I remember, quite vividly, the day she gave birth. My Mom put a plastic swimming pool in the kitchen and she gave birth in it. There was alot of blood and it was a terrible labor. My Mom allowed me to get in the pool and help out. I remember that alot of the puppies were stillborn and one was born with an abnormally long tail. Two of the puppies survived, only to die a few days later. I remember seeing my Uncle hide the dead puppies in the closet hoping I wouldn't see them before He could get outside. I remember praying alot and staring at the ugly wallpaper and how sad everyone was. I was just so grateful that Sasha didn't die as well. It was a hard labor for her but she was strong.

Challenge #11:
What is your earliest childhood memory? Post it on your blog and provide a link below to earn a ballot for the prize draw. If you don't have a blog then you can email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca

Due Date: January 31st
Draw Date: February 1st

One of my dear friends made me a sweet mini album for my birthday. It was such a great surprise. She had used a past kit she got from Scrapdango and put in lots of great pictures. Here is a sample of the album:

On the first page she had put a great quote about friends:

It reads: "If you see a falling star make a wish for it may come true for the last time I did, I found a friend like you." ~unknown author
Challenge #10:
I would like to see you post a picture of your friend(s) on your blog and tell me something about them. Provide a link below or email me at thynner5@yahoo.ca. You will earn a ballot for the prize draw.

Love Notes Post It Holder ~Challenge #8

I thought I would share a darling little project I did for the Scrapping Bug's Winter Crop. I made it for the Make and Take and headed to Kitchener to teach it. It's great to see so many of my blog friends head over for the online crop. What fun!!

Gather up some supplies:
Paper x 2
Binder Clip
Chipboard coaster or chipboard cut to 4x4
Post it Notes
Ribbon
Sandpaper
ink (optional)
embellies (optional)

1. Cut your patterned paper to 4x4.
2. Adhere to your chipboard.
3. Trim around the corners.
4. Sand the edges. Make sure when you sand the edges that you sand downwards. If you were to sand upwards you would rip or tear your paper.
5. Ink if desired.
6. Add extra paper if desired. I added a scallop edge.

7. Cut a piece of coordinating paper for your binder clip. Adhere to binder clip.
8. Add ribbon to your binder clip.

9. Clip your Post it Note to your chipboard coaster.
Voila!!

**You can add a magnet to the back to put on your fridge!
Challenge #8:
Create one of these quick and easy Post it Note Holders.

Challenge # 7 ~ Sew What

One of Emmy's very favorite songs right now is by Pink called "So What?" I hear her sing it at least 10 times a day. Thanks goodness she can carry a tune or else it would be driving me nuts.

When I was thinking of today's challenge she asked me to base it on her favorite song. We came up with the Sew What Challenge!!

Challenge #7:

I would like to see you sew on your layout. You can do this by either using a machine, rub-ons or poking holes and sewing by hand. You must also use the color Pink on your layout as well. Get it?? Pink??

Here is my layout of Paige called Authentic Beauty. I used a stitching template and sewed by hand.

Quote Reads: "Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart." ~ Khalil Gibran

Email your creations to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca and put Thynner Blog Challenge in the subject line. You will earn a ballot for this month's $50.00 Prize Draw of new scrappy goodies!!

Art Freckles Surprise & Challenge #6

I know alot of you were disappointed that the new Art Freckles kit that I posted sold out so quickly.

Well... I have a surprise for you!! Shannon decided to put together another amazing kit since it is her birthday this month and since she loves surprises!! Check out this beautiful WRMK's kit:

This kit contains:
8 sheets of 12x12 double sided patterned paper from WRMK Heart Attack Line
(2 of each design)
* Be Mine
* Crush
* Honey Bunny
* Twitterpated
6 sheets of Bazzill cardstock (2 ea. of Lily White, Buttercream, and Dragonfly)
1 pkg. Scrap-icing Loopy Daisies
1 pkg WRMK glitter brads Heart Attack Line
1 pkg WRMK glitter lace Heart Attack Line
1 pkg WRMK designer eyelets & snaps Heart Attack Line
1 sht. WRMK embossed stickers Heart Attack Line
1 pkg. Bazzill 3/4" ruby red blossoms
2 yards cream lace

It is available right now to buy. I wouldn't wait too long because they go so fast!

Challenge #6:
I would like to see you do a 2 page layout. I started out doing 2 page layouts almost 5 years ago. I remember how scared I was to try a single page layout. Now, most of my layouts are single pages and I rarely do 2 pages anymore.

The thing that I do love about a double page layout is that I can fit so much more photos. It is a great way to showcase 4 or more photos.

Here is a layout I did for Scrapdango. Thank goodness Carrie likes double page layouts. It pushes me to create more.

Yep... it's Paige surrounded by lots of Arctic Chill goodness. We had so much fun sledding at Grandpa Larry's on New Years Day. We were oblivious to the cold and rosy cheeks we all got.

Please email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca or link it below. You will earn a ballot for this month's draw worth $50.00 of new goodies!! I'll compile a list of goodies for tomorrow!

As we get older we begin to make realizations along the way. We learn from things we have done or have seen. We wake up one day with the knowledge that we are here to learn and spread that knowledge unto others.

I would like you to start of with the following: “ I Now Know……..”

“I Now Know that…….”

Here is a layout I did. Here are my lovely daughters. I am constantly learning from them!

The journaling reads: “I Now Know why I was put on this earth. I am here to love, here to teach, here to cherish, here to be a mother.”

Since this is a journal challenge, you can post your journaling on your blog or email it to me at mailto:atthynner5@yahoo.ca or link it below. You will earn one ballot for the draw! Yes... the one valued at $50.00!!

Challenge #4

I just did the following layout for a Scrapdango Layout Tag Game. I just love playing layout tag!! I used some amazing Fancy Pants Arctic Chill Paper and some Glitter paper as well. Love it together.

I had this amazing photo that my friend Lori Anne Franklin took earlier in the fall. She took us out for a Photo Shoot at a barn. Mistake!! The girls were more interested in barn cats and saddles than having their picture taken. BUT... she did manage to get some amazing photos in spite of the distractions.

Challenge #4

The page has the following quote: "You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them." ~ Desmond Tutu

My challenge is for you to do a layout showcasing your family.
Bonus: Use the above quote to earn a second ballot!!

Email your creation to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca to earn a ballot... or two for this months Big Blog Prize!!

Happy Scrapping!

Random Tip

One of the perfect little tool to have on hand is a lint roller. The kind with the masking tape that you peel off when you’re done. It is wonderful for picking up little bits of glitter or flocking. It also picks up the fine dust particles from sanding your paper and chipboard.

I also use it to remove rubons that I have misplaced on my layout or card. I just roll it over the letter or image and it rolls right along with it. It is so easy to do.

You all have to live/scrap and experience PAGEANT LIFE with each other for the 4 weeks for the month of February.

You will be competing for points. Each week the DT will award points 1-10 for each contestant’s creation. The contestant with the most points at the end of the competition goes home with an awesome prize package! Life.....or Something Like That

Well... it happened. Life got in the way of my blogging! I swore I wouldn't let it happen but, with the holidays and my birthday I slipped.
It is amazing to me just how exhausting the holidays truly are. I have been so worn out that I actually fell asleep on the couch the other day and woke up with a sore neck and shoulder! Crazy thing is that the last time I ever fell asleep on the couch was when I was pregnant. NOOOOOOOOOOOO....... I am not pregnant now!! Don't even think that! Three is a great number. It just goes to show you just how tired I was.

I am not sure how many of you have decided to chose a special word to be your mantra for 2009. If you don't know what I am referring to you can check out Ali Edwards Blog for details. It took me all of three seconds to come up with this years word..............................................................
RELAX!!

I tend to over do things and get caught up in things. I am constantly focusing on the negative and letting it get to me. I have become a magnet for stress. I am going to learn to chill and relax more. Spend more time enjoying my life not worrying about it! Spend more time with my family and friends. Laugh more.

Challenge #1 ~ Your Word:
What is your chosen word for 2009?? Chose something that means something to you. Email it to me at thynner5@yahoo.ca or post it below to earn a ballot for this months blog prize draw, again valued at $50.00!!
**Bonus: Use your chosen word on a layout and send it to me to earn two ballots. An easy way to start 2009 off!!

I have all the names drawn up for Decembers Draw!! I will let Paige pick the winner in the morning. Then.... it's back to business on my blog!

THANKS to everyone who have been checking in every day and sending in those amazing creations! I am so thrilled everytime I receive an email and see your creations. I will continue to post challenges throughout the month.
